Bucks County Teacher Arrested For Possession Of Child Abuse Images

The most serious penalties in criminal cases are reserved for crimes that involve physical injury or depriving someone of valuable property. The criminal court can still charge you and convict you if you were doing something that would likely result in bodily harm, theft, or destruction of someone else’s property, though. Drunk driving is a crime, although it is a less serious crime than DUI manslaughter or drunk driving resulting in serious injury. You can go to prison for attempted robbery, although the penalty is not as severe as it would be if the robbery had ended up with the target’s money in your possession. In some instances, merely possessing something you are not supposed to have can result in criminal charges. In most cases, these are relatively low-level offenses; no one loses their voting rights over possession of drug paraphernalia, for example. Possession of child sexual abuse material, defined as photographs or videos depicting the sexual exploitation of minors, is a felony, however; if you downloaded the images, the fact that you were not the one who produced them will not secure your acquittal. When Is Possession a Crime?
Possession of Schedule I controlled substances is always a crime, and it is usually illegal to possess controlled substances from the other drug schedules, unless a doctor has prescribed the drugs to you. Likewise, it is illegal to possess a firearm if you have been convicted of a felony. It is always illegal to possess photographs and videos that depict minors in a sexually explicit manner. You can be convicted of possession of child sexual abuse material if prosecutors can prove that you knowingly viewed the illegal content or downloaded it onto your devices.
In the News
In the summer of 2025, Richard Adamsky, who is employed as a teacher at a school in Warminster, was arrested on charges of possession of child sexual abuse material. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a tip that a computer in the area was downloading illegal content, and police traced the IP address to Adamsky’s computer; it is unclear who reported the tip, but tips about illegal content sometimes come from online content moderators. News reports did not say how old the minors were, but said that they were about the same age as Adamsky’s students; Adamsky has never been accused of abusing students at his school. When police questioned Adamsky, he said that he had been downloading illegal images for about five years and that he had downloaded “too many” of them. After his arrest, the police took him to jail and set his bond at $500,000.
