FBI uses search warrant to access local rehab clinic

Drug charges for crimes involving heroin are serious offenses that warrant long jail sentences a mark on a person’s federal record. That’s why addiction specialists and clinics are open to serve the growing population of men and women in Western Pennsylvania who have fallen into addiction. These places are a blessing, though some feel that they allow drug addicts to get together in one place and cause issues for residents who live near these facilities. The truth, though, is that these places are necessary for people who want to be clean to fight back. Interestingly, agents from the FBI, assisted by other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, served a search warrant on Thursday at a methadone clinic along Route 51 in North Union, Fayette County. By 9 a.m., the FBI closed off access to the Mountain View Plaza on Pittsburgh Road in North Union. Authorities weren’t saying as to their presence at Addiction Specialists Incorporated. An agent from the FBI said: “I can confirm the Federal Bureau of Investigation; U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration; U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Inspector General; Pennsylvania State Attorney General’s Office, and Fayette County District Attorney’s Office are executing a federal search warrant at 1023 Pittsburgh Road in Uniontown.” He added that: “The search is being executed as part of an ongoing FBI-led joint investigation.” Police officers from Uniontown Police, Perryopolis, and Everson, the Fayette County Sheriff’s tactical unit, and several K-9 units were also on the scene. Authorities were rerouting people who attempted to turn into the plaza. Addiction Specialists Inc. is licensed to dispense methadone and buprenorphine to recovering addicts, according to the PA Dept. of Drug and Alcohol Programs website. The company recently moved from its authorized clinic to the nearby strip-mall location. A small fire was reported to have occurred on the clinic on 24 July.
